RECYCLERS GUIDE

THE PAPER FIBER STREAM-BIN ONERecycle Pile

CARDBOARD: Corrugated sheets and boxes (flattened), cereal and other pasteboard packaging, file folders, poster board, brown paper bags, etc. Please cut down large boxes and remove plastic windows. 2’x2’ for curbside; 4’x4’ for drop-off.

GLOSSY PAPER: Material that has a glossy sheen including: magazines, catalogs, flyers, etc.

MIXED OFFICE PAPER: Office paper including copy, construction, envelopes, computer, tablets and pads, phonebooks, workbooks with plastic binding removed, and junk mail. No 3-ring binders.

NEWSPAPER: Newspaper and all included paper items. No plastic bags or rubber bands.

BOOKS: The District maintains a library consisting of thousands of books available free at the Recycling Center. Books in usable condition should be brought to the Recycling Center to be placed in our library. Books that are unusable can be placed in a paper sack in your recycling bin (no more than 1 paper sack full). Large quantities of books need to brought to the Recycling Center regardless of condition.  

DO NOT MIX PAPER FIBER AND COMMINGLE MATERIALS TOGETHER!

CANS: Aluminum or bimetal cans including: empty aerosol cans. Containers must be rinsed free of food waste or other contaminants. Labels do not need to be removed.

PLASTICS: All plastic bottles, jugs, and containers numbers 1-7. NO rigid plastics such as lawn chairs, outdoor toys, trash cans, laundry baskets, etc.

GLASS: Clean food or beverage container glass. NO bulbs, ornamental, plate/window, Pyrex or cookware. All containers must be rinsed free of food waste/other contaminants. Labels and lids do not need removed.

ALUMINUM FOIL: Aluminum foil and pans rinsed free of food waste/other contaminants.

SORRY, WE CAN NOT ACCEPT: Adhesive materials; used tissue paper/paper towels, oil/food  contaminated  paper  materials, film/photographs,  paper  containers  with  attached  metal or plastic ends or spouts, cardboard juice or milk containers, wax coated cardboard or paper, propane (flammable gas) tanks, pet food bags; salt bags; carbon paper; or items with food or other contaminants. Please keep your recycling clean.

SPECIAL ITEMS – RECYCLING CENTER ONLY

APPLIANCES: Large and small includes: air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, furnaces, dish washers, water heaters, ranges, washers, dryers, toasters, mixers, sweepers, fans, etc. No Charge.  

ELECTRONIC WASTE: Everything electronic! Computers and accessories, stereo equipment, DVD & video players, copiers, etc. $0.37/lb fee for CRT tube type Monitors, Televisions, and Projection TVs; $0.20/lb fee for Flat Screen TVs.

OTHER PLASTICS:  Bulk ABS, shrink wrap, and vinyl siding (less than 4’ lengths).

USED OIL: Used motor oil, hydraulic oil, or fuel oil free of gasoline, solvents or other contaminants. No charge.

FLUORESCENT BULBS: Tube, circular, u-bend, or CFL bulbs. Residential use only.     $0.50 cents per bulb for 2 foot and smaller; $1.00 per 4 foot and larger.

USED TIRES: $4.00 per passenger car or truck tire.

CAR/TRUCK/MOTORCYCLE BATTERIES: Wet cell only. No charge.

PAINT: Latex (water based) paints $2.00 per gallon (liquid only);

OTHER: Printer toner/ink cartridges, all batteries, all electronic cords and Christmas lights, all scrap metal, flexible plastic (aka shopping bags; RESTRICTIONS APPLY). No charge.

**The SWMD accepts cash or check only.**

CURBSIDE RECYCLING: Bins must be out by 6:30 a.m.. Please avoid extreme weather set-out. Materials placed in plastic bags will not be collected. The first two recycling bins are available for your use free. Replacement/additional bins are $8.00 each. 

Recycling Center Hours: Mon, Wed, Fri 9:00 – 5:00. First and third Saturday 8:00-Noon.
