Stan D. Owens
 began his term as Van Wert County Commissioner on January 3, 2013. He is a native of Van Wert County and the son of Ervin E. and Iva Lou (Laukhuf) Owens of Harrison Township. He is a 1972 graduate of Crestview High School and in 1975, received his Basic Law Enforcement Certification from the State of Ohio Peace Officer Training Council.

Prior to his election as Commissioner, Owens served in law enforcement in Van Wert County for 36 years in which 24 years were as Sheriff of Van Wert County.

Owens is involved in a family farming, grain operation which is based in the western portion of Van Wert County.

He and his wife, Susan, are parents of five children: Shawn, Krista, Ashley, Laura, and Nathan. He, wife Susan, and son Nathan reside in Harrison Township on the family farm where they attend Countryside Methodist Church.

Owens, who enjoys public service, believes his county government management experience along with his farm management experience will be valuable assets in being an effective Commissioner.
